Lymm Junior Colts travelled to Sandbach for the last game of what has been a disrupted and difficult season, but with one eye on securing some silverware as reward for their commitment and hard work. Playing Trentham, who we had not played before ensured we focussed on our game not theirs. The game was closely contested by two very even teams, with Lymm drawing in front with a converted try and penalty, only for Trentham to bounce back with two unconverted tries to make it 10 all at halftime.
Lymm now playing in to a strong wind needed to work hard to win this one and started off strongly, edging back in front with a converted try, only for Trentham to bounce back and even things up again. Some great defence from Lymm stopped Trentham from getting in front , and then they worked hard through several phases and some strong running to score a try. It was end to end rugby with Trentham competing hard but one infringement too many saw Lymm get awarded a penalty 35m out straight in front, but in to the wind. Up stepped James who coolly slotted the 3 points for an 8 point gap and 3 minutes to go.
The final stages were tense but strong forward play saw Lymm close it out and scored an unconverted try with the last play of the game. Final score 30-17 and a well deserved win to celebrate.
Scorers – Tries – Tom Roberts, Alex Gregory, Will McDonnell, Nonso Agina. 2 penalties and 2 Conversions by James Anderson
