The following is an emailed message sent to our President, David Newton, by Mr Tyke Stevenson, the referee of our 2nd XV match at Sedgley Park.

Referees are in general, taken for granted but without them there would be no games. It is therefore quite refreshing that a referee should take the trouble to write, complimenting both sides in the manner that they played the game. In particular, praising the Lymm  team and their skipper Jordan Widdrington.

Well done Lymm 2’s and skipper, Jordan Widdrington

The message reads as follows:

Good Morning David,

I had the pleasure of officiating over your 2nd XV on Saturday up at Sedgely and thought it only right that I dropped you a line.

In the current climate were we as officials are experiencing a gradual increase in on and off field challenges, it was a joy to be in the middle. Despite the game being keenly competitive for the full 80 minutes, both sides showed true core values throughout. Non more so than your boys considering they were up against it from the off, being short of replacements compounded by two early injuries.

The teamwork and respect shown towards  myself and their opponents was outstanding. Could you please pass on my thanks to the team as a whole and special thanks to Jordan Widdrington (Capt) whose leadership and cooperation throughout was greatly commendable, a true ambassador to our sport and your club.

All the best for the rest of the season.

Regards in Rugby
