UK’s funniest Doctor to speak at Lymm RFC’s Sportsmans Dinner
Possibly the funniest man in medicine, Dr Kevin Jones, a Royal Bolton Hospital consultant physician, is speaking at Lymm Rugby Club’s Sportman’s Dinner on Thursday 7th June 2018, and is also set to debut at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2018.
Widely acclaimed as the funniest doctor ever to talk about cancer and death, Kevin’s stand-up routines draw on the darker side of medicine and have become legendary.
He said: “I have been on the after-dinner and comedy circuit for 30 years and looking forward to speaking at Lymm Rugby Club. My One Man Show at the Edinburgh Fringe is my first appearance there and a completely new experience for me, and hopefully a rewarding one for my audience. I am doing it for the excitement and the challenge but I also know it will be great fun.’
The show entitled ‘Telling the Wrong Man he had Cancer and Other Hilarious Stories’ runs from August 20 to 25 at 6.10pm at theSpace @ Symposium Hall.(Venue 43)
‘I was looking for a title that grabs attention,’ said Bolton-based Dr Jones. ‘This true story was when I had a case of mistaken identity and a patient left for home after being wrongly told he had terminal cancer. Luckily, there was a happy ending. The funny part of the story is how mortified and hugely stressed I was, spending hours trying to track him down to give him the good news and his amazing reaction to the whole sorry saga’
‘My patients know I’m a stand-up and often ask “You’re not going to mention any of this in your act are you, Doc?” I reassure them that the Hippocratic Oath forbids it.’
His after-dinner speech celebrates the dark humour inherent in hospital medicine has been described as frightening, illuminating and very, very funny.
